Child protection risk management workshop
The Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000 now requires regulated businesses and employers to protect children and young people in their care by implementing an annual written risk management strategy.

These have provided information and resources to organisations and sole business operators who must have a risk management strategy in place for child protection.

However, open risk management strategy workshops will not be conducted in July and August 2007 while the Commission develops new resources to further support organisations meet their new obligations in relation to protecting children.

Since 1 January this year, the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Regulation 2001 has required regulated employers and businesses to have risk management strategies that addresses eight minimum requirements.

Closed workshops will remain available to organisations and industry representatives who seek child protection risk management information accompanied by industry-specific examples and discussions.

Open workshops will resume in September.
