The Right to Information is the Queensland Government's approach to giving the community greater access to information.
The Queensland Government has made a commitment to provide access to information held by the Government, unless on balance it is contrary to the public interest to provide that information.
The Right to Information aims to make more information available, provide equal access to information across all sectors of the community, and provide appropriate protection for individuals' privacy. The introduction of the Right to Information Act 2009 and the Information Privacy Act 2009 are part of this process.
Our publication scheme describes and categorises information routinely available from the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian (the Commission). It has been developed to give the community greater access to information as part of the response to the review of Freedom of Information laws. Information is grouped and accessible through seven classes described under Published information below.
More detailed information about right to information is available at:
http://www.qld.gov.au/righttoinformation
The Commission will make as much information as possible available through its publication scheme. Where practical, this information will be accessible on our website. Where we are not able to make information available on the website, or if you do not wish to access information on the website, we will advise you how the information can be accessed, and any applicable charges.
You can also apply to access documents under the Right to Information Act 2009. Information about that process and the application form are available at: https://www.smartservice.qld.gov.au/services/information-requests/home.action
If you only want to obtain your own personal information and no information that relates to another person, you may be able to obtain access through our administrative release process. However, if the documents you seek contain any information about another person (including their name) you might not be able to get access to that information administratively.
If you have queries about information access, you can contact the Commission as follows:

The disclosure log provides access to documents disclosed by the Commission in response to Right to Information applications.
In our disclosure log you will find details of non-personal information released under the Right to Information Act 2009 that has wider public interest.
The Right to Information Act 2009 came into effect from 1 July 2009 and at this time our disclosure log does not contain any requested information. Our disclosure log will be updated as information is released under the RTI process.
