Foster and Kinship Carer Week 2010

Theme: Communities at Play
Dates: 7 to 14 March 2010

Foster and Kinship Carer Week is a celebration for all Queensland carers, with various activities happening across the state. It is also an opportunity for the community to recognise their contribution to the care of children and young people in Queensland.

Foster and kinship carers and community groups are encouraged to apply for activity grants to hold an event during the week. The Foster and Kinship Carer Week Committee encourages applications for events that involve partnership and collaboration between foster carers, children and young people in care, non-government foster care agencies, service centres of the Department of Child Safety, other non-government and government service providers, local community groups and local businesses.

Activities planned for Foster and Kinship Carer Week should:

  • recognise, celebrate and thank foster and kinship carers and their families for their contribution to the lives of the children and young people in their care, and
  • raise community awareness about the importance of foster and kinship care in our community and in so doing attract new carers.

Grants of up to $1000 (including GST) are available.
