Throughout the year, the Commission organises a program of speakers from a wide range of disciplines to provide an opportunity to listen to expert opinion on topics affecting the strategic direction of the Commission and its key focus of promoting and strengthening the rights, safety and wellbeing of children.

On Wednesday 22 September 2010, Elizabeth Cullen, Queensland Policy Manager, Left Right
Think-Tank, delivered a presentation on youth homelessness and how the Left Right Think-Tank engages with young people and empowers them to contribute to public policy development and debate. The Left Right Think-Tank is Australia’s first independent and non-partisan think-tank of young minds (aged 15-24) whose mission is to involve young people in public policy.

Ms Cullen facilitates and coordinates policy agenda in Queensland and is currently completing a Bachelor of Law/Arts (history and international relations) at the University of Queensland. Ms Cullen volunteers as a tutor with the St Vincent de Paul Refugee Tutoring and Community Service (VoRTCs) program. She also works as a researcher at the Queensland Supreme Court Library.
