Flooding in the Brisbane central business district has continued to affect the Commission's head office building, which has been closed since 11 January.
We have established some limited services offsite and hope to be able to re-establish further Commission services soon. At this stage we are providing limited blue card services, complaints services and our community visitor program from temporary premises offsite from our normal offices. As always our commitment and mandate is to listen to, advocate and oversight the child protection system. This protects all Queensland children, particularly those who are most at risk and vulnerable and in alternate care.
Please check this website as it is updated daily as further information comes to hand. Executive Management, directors and managers will meet again tomorrow, Tuesday, 25 January, to further plan for restoration of services.
Our Community Visitors are continuing to make every effort to contact children and young people in out-of-home care and ascertain their safety and well-being.
In addition, we are continuing to make the following two other services available:
• if you have a child related complaint matter for which you require assistance, please call 0408 290 749 or 0418 740 186, and
• if you are seeking urgent information about the status of your blue card application or business requirements please ring 07 3035 5960.
We have also commenced processing blue card applications received at the Commission prior to 11 January at our off site facility. We are also from today now receiving and processing applications which have been mailed to PO Box 12671 Brisbane George Street, Queensland 4003. Please note that because we are unable to access our office building, facsimiles cannot be received or acknowledged. In addition the Commission is continuing to monitor and assess any changes to the police information of existing blue card holders and advise relevant parties as appropriate.
For more general information about the Blue Card or any other Commission function, please visit our web site at www.ccypcg.qld.gov.au.
Important Information for Commission Staff
For members of the Commission's staff who as yet are not working from our offsite facility, I would ask you to please stay in touch with your Director or manager during this time. The Workforce Capability team is also available to provide support as required. Zonal Managers are available to support Community Visitors.
The Commission’s Response Team (CRT) is continuing to liaise with the Department of Public Works concerning return to our building and your director or manager will advise you of requirements in this regard.
Further updates about the status of the Commission's functions will also be posted on this web site as circumstances change.
