Flooding in the Brisbane central business district resulted in the closure of the Commission's head office on 11 January.
However, I am pleased to announce that Commission staff were able to re-enter the building on 27 January and full operations resumed from 11:00am Monday 31 January.
Although the Commission’s functions were significantly impacted during the period our head office was closed, we were able to establish some services offsite, including limited blue card and complaints services.
Our community visitors were also able to continue to contact most children and young people in foster care, residential care or detention facilities, ascertain their safety and well-being and provide reports which enabled the Commission to advocate for the children and young people concerned.
Unfortunately, while full operations have recommenced, there may be some delays in processing individual blue card applications that were either received during the closure period or were still in the process of being finalised.
I apologise for any inconvenience this causes. We will make every effort to finalise these applications as soon as possible.
