Foster and Kinship Carer Week activity grants available

Applications are open for non-government organisations for up to $1000 to support Foster and Kinship Carer Week activities to be held from 4-10 March 2012.

The Foster and Kinship Carer Week Committee encourages applications for events that involve partnership and collaboration between foster carers, children and young people in care, non-government foster care agencies, service centres of the Department of Communities, other non-government and government service providers, local community groups and local businesses.

Activities planned for Foster and Kinship Carer Week: Celebrating Carers, Fostering Futures, should:

  • recognise, celebrate and thank foster and kinship carers and their families for their contribution to the lives of the children and young people in their care
  • raise community awareness about the importance of foster and kinship care in our community and in so doing attract new carers
  • foster and kinship carers should be included and consulted during the planning of local activities. We expect that applications for funding will reflect how the voice of carers in the planning/preparations has been facilitated.

If you are interested in hosting or sponsoring an event during Foster and Kinship Carer Week in 2012, see the application form and the event form. Applications close 30 November 2011.
