People who work in education and care services, or who provide other services in an environment where education and care is being provided, must hold a blue card or an exemption card to comply with the Commission's Act and the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Law (Queensland) Act 2011.

Blue cards for are valid for three years.
The prescribed application fee for business and paid employee blue cards is $72.50
There is no application fee for volunteers and trainee students.
Certain people are prohibited from applying for a blue card. Please click here for more information about disqualified persons.
Police officers and registered teachers do not apply for blue cards and in certain circumstances may need to apply for an exemption card. Please click here for the relevant exemption card application forms.
Please check all categories that might apply to your staff. If they don't require screening under one category, they might still need screening under another.
