I am a grandparent and have been invited to a school or church, club, association or similar entity to observe my grandchild’s participation in a play or similar event. Do I need a blue card?
No.
If you are only observing your grandchild or relative and have not been engaged to provide a regulated service to a child, you will not require a blue card.
Similarly, if you are merely attending school to collect a child, a blue card is not be required.
I am a grandparent going into my grandchild’s school to participate in class activities. Do I need a blue card?
If you are regularly providing a service at your grandchild's school, you will require a blue card.
However, if you attend your grandchild's school as a volunteer guest you will not require a blue card as long as:
You can apply for a blue card by submitting a 'Volunteer (V) application' form and selecting the 'schools - employees other than teachers and parents' category of regulated employment.
Please note, there is no fee for volunteer applications however you can only commence after you have lodged your application with the Commission.
