I am a teacher from overseas escorting international students on a study tour. Do I need a blue card?
Yes.
Paid staff employed by an international school, education agency or foreign government escorting students on a study tour fall under the 'schools - employees other than teachers and parents’ category of regulated employment and will be required to obtain a blue card if their work at a school includes, or is likely to include, providing services directed mainly towards children, or conducting activities that mainly involve children, for at least:
You can apply for a blue card by submitting a ‘Paid employee (P) application form” (PDF, 295KB) and selecting the 'schools –employees other than teachers and parents' category of regulated employment.
An application for a blue card must be completed by the employee and the organisation for which they are working.
Please note, as a paid employee you can commence child-related work after you have lodged your blue card application with the Commission.
I am a teacher from overseas escorting international students on a study tour and will be staying in a house where home stay accommodation is being provided to children. Do I need a blue card?
Yes.
If you are an adult staying in a house where home stay accommodation is being provided to children, you will need a blue card for that purpose if you are residing there for a period of more than ten days or on more than two occasions per year.
The blue card for paid employment can be used for home stay as well.
