Making a complaint
Any child or young person under 18 years of age, or an
adult acting on their behalf, can make a complaint or express
their concerns to the Commission. These can be concerns
affecting you, another child or young person or a group
of children and young people.
Children and young people who receive services or support from the Department
of Communities can receive additional services from the Commission.
If you are under Child Protection or Juvenile Justice orders, or are subject
to action by the Department of Communities, the Commission has extra powers
to help you with any complaints about the services you are receiving or are
entitled to receive from a government department or other government-funded organisation.
Complaints might be about the law or justice, accommodation, health, education
or services provided by the Department of Communities.
Anyone can send a message to the Commission if they want
to bring a concern or complaint on behalf of a child or
young person or group of children and young people.

How will the Commission help?
We can "advocate" for you and give you advice.
This means we can take up your concerns and try to negotiate
a better outcome with the service provider. We may also
be able to persuade people to change the way they provide
services to you.
If you have concerns about the services or support you are receiving from a
service provider, we also have the power to investigate your concern or complaint.
This means we can find out "how, why and what" is happening to ensure
you are receiving proper services and support.
What if the Commission can't help me?
There are some problems or concerns which the Commission
will not be able to help you with. If the Commission can't
help, we will find someone else who can.
If you need help urgently and our office is closed you should contact an emergency
service.
