Frequently Asked Questions

Self Employed

I conduct a private babysitting service. Do I need a blue card?

Yes.

Your work as a private babysitter falls under the 'child care' category of regulated business and you will need a blue card before you commence providing the child care or babysitting service.

You can apply for a blue card by submitting a Child Care Business (CCB) application form accompanied by the prescribed fee.

Your proof of identification documents must be sighted by a Justice of the Peace, Commissioner for Declarations, Lawyer or Police Officer.

Note

A person carrying on a child-related business must hold a blue card before they can begin the child-related activity.
