Frequently Asked Questions

Paid employee of a child care centre

I drive a bus for a child care centre on a paid basis. Do I need a blue card?

Yes.

You need a blue card if your usual employment is carried out (or is likely to be carried out), at a child care centre while child care is being provided, and you work (or are likely to work) over 12 months, for:

  • eight consecutive days, or
  • once a week, each week, over four weeks, or
  • once a fortnight, each fortnight, over eight weeks, or
  • once a month, each month, over six months.

You can apply for a blue card by submitting a Child Care Paid Employment (CCP) Application Form accompanied by the prescribed fee.

Note

As a paid employee you may begin or continue work while your application is being processed.
