Do I have to send my Risk Management Strategy to the Commission? How do I know if I am complying?
No. The Commission does not assess individual risk management strategies in this way. If your strategy has been prepared, implemented and is reviewed in line with the guidelines provided by the Commission, you can be fairly certain your strategy complies with requirements.
Some organisations choose to seek legal advice on their policies and procedures to ensure they’re meeting their duty of care, particularly if there are any contentious matters covered in the strategy.
It’s important to keep track of complaints, incidents and ‘near misses’ to see whether your risk management strategy is working well to protect children.
You should document staff agreements to comply with policy and procedures, training records, incident reports and blue card registers as evidence you are managing the risks to children’s safety and wellbeing.
